STM32F4

(OK. Got the hints. So, here we go again.)

Given some recent info I received, I just wanted to verify the status of eLua on the STM32F4.

I will be working with a STM32F4 Discovery kit. So, wanted to know what is available in terms of stable ports to this platform.

Apparently no one actualy using eLua on STM32F4 has replied, so I'm
going to tell you what I know. Currently, the STM32F4 support lives on
a separate branch that is not yet part of the main eLua repo. The only
reason for which this happens is that the STM32 backend is in
desperate need of some refactoring and simply accepting the F4 changes
would've brought quite a bit of chaos in the code. That said, I don't
know anything about its stability, since I never actually used it. The
M3 version of the STM32 backend is one of the most used (and feature
packed) backends in eLua, so you can expect some comfortable level of
stabiliity there. In the particular case of the M4 though, once again,
I can't give you any actual details.

Best,
Bogdan

Hi Tom, I only run the eLua on STM32F4 Discovery. There is a bikenomad branch with that distro. It works with full 192kB ram with eLua. I did not test it in detail however. It would be great if those to branches merge, as the official eLua is far ahead, I think.

I've ordered the STM32F4 discovery kit for an eLua related project.

which compiler should be used to build against this target, ensuring the FPU instructions get used?  Will CodeSourcery handle this processor? I have version 4.5.2 currently installed.

Excited to work with this new device - the price point is fairly staggering.
